
Snare drummer, Kaylin Smith, a resident of Bolingbrook,
Illinois has been attending Highland games since
she was a baby. Her great uncle was a piper and her
grandmother ran a clan tent. She has been playing for
nine years and has played with the following bands:
the Tunes of Glory, Midlothian Scottish, and the Grade
One City of Chicago. Kaylin attended Monmouth
College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree
with a major in psychology and a minor in English.
She is currently earning her M.Sc. Psychology of Language at The University of Edinburgh, in Edinburgh, UK. Kaylin hopes to attend Michigan State University in Fall 2015 when she returns for a Ph.D. in Linguistics.
Kaylin’s mother has been extremely supportive of Kaylin’s involvement in pipe bands, becoming quite an “expert” in critiquing performances. In her spare time Kaylin enjoys biking, writing, and reading about cognitive psychology.
