Piper Dana Freiberg, who resides in St. Paul, Minnesota,
has been piping for twelve years. She’s played with
the following bands: Twin Cities Metro, Midlothian, St.
Andrew’s Society of Winnipeg, and Macalester College.
Highlights of Dana’s band competing are: taking second
place in Grade Two at the North American Pipe Band
Championships in Maxville, three years in a row with two
different bands, Midlothian and St. Andrew’s Society of
Winnipeg. In addition to playing the pipes Dana plays
the banjo and the didgeridoo. Dana attended Bemidji
State University and Metropolitan State University and earned two Bachelor’s of
Science degrees: one in criminal justice and the other in computer forensics. She is employed as a programmer. Dana has a unique sense of humor which appeared
when she was asked the major influences on her bagpipe playing, and she
responded: “Newcastle, Magners, and Dos Equis.” Also when asked what other skills
she possesses her response was: “I can build you a computer from scratch and mock
your grammar all in one afternoon.” In her free time Dana enjoys electronic music,
computer and board games, rpgs, cartooning, reading, 501st Legion, weightlifting,
music, sci-fi, nerd conventions, and zombies.
