Here are some photos sent to us by John Dyer from Motherwell, Scotland. The band was very fortunate to be able to kick things off this year at Piping Live! in Glasgow.
This off season has been very productive with adding a couple of new members to the pipe section and learning a hornpipe set and a little concert jig set too. Very gratifying to see all the pipers improving and becoming a cohesive unit. We have also taken the time to improve our MSR playing and unison and tinkered with the medley too. The sound should be more robust this year and I sense we will take strong steps forward in the competition ring.
Adrian Melvin Exciting times to report from the GM Quartermaster! This year, the band plans on making a few small changes to the uniform. Probably the most noticeable one to the public will be the addition of black argyle jackets. These jackets are currently being made by our sponsors, R.G. Hardie and Co LTD. I know for me, the plan is to convince PM Adrian Melvin to bring the look back of wearing jackets in the competition circle (within reason of the heat of course) . This seems to be a thing of the past and it's time to go retro again! I'd have to say one of the biggest perks when joining the band (other than the music and people) is you will be outfitted from head to toe with brand new top of line custom gear. The membership numbers are strong because the closet is empty. Onward and upward!
Chris Barr Well, the offseason for the band has finally hit after a great trip out to California. The band played well both days under some very challenging weather (hot and humid). Needless to say, all of the members really stepped to the plate and made this a very special trip I will never forget. As the band heads into the break, I find the leadership has been keeping busy with planning of 2015. I am excited to see what the future holds for the band!
