
Piper Stephen Starrett was born in Oshawa, Ontario,
Canada and currently resides in Macomb, Michigan
where he is a graduate student at Oakland University,
working towards a Master’s of Linguistics’ degree with
an English as a Second Language (ESL) certification.
Stephen’s played the pipes for seven years with Great
Lakes and Windsor Police pipe bands. Major influences
on Stephen’s playing are: Kevin Wisehart, Barry Conway,
James MacHattie, Adrian Melvin and Pete Lowry. Stephen
has competed in solo contests, where he competes at the Grade Two level in Light Music and at the Senior Amateur level in piobaireachd. Stephen earned a Bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders from Wayne State University.
In his leisure time he enjoys motorcycling and camping. He’d like to send a message to Aubrey, Sue, Kelly and Sean: “Thank you for putting up with bagpipe music this long!”
