Sarah Cooper

Picture
Piper Sarah Cooper is from California and currently resides in Lansing, Michigan where she is a graduate student at Michigan State University. She is pursuing
a Ph.D. in neuroscience with the goal of becoming a professor in neuroscience with research focused in the effects of hormones and chronic stress on addiction.
Sarah holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in human biology from the University of California – San Diego. Sarah has been piping for sixteen years.

She’s played with the following bands:
  • Alameda County Sheriff (Pipe Major – 2002),
  • James J. Coyne
  • LA Scots.
Sarah has competed as Grade One soloist for ten years, and she competed in Grade One at the World Pipe Band Championships with the LA Scots twice. In her leisure time Sarah enjoys playing the piano and editing music. She is the editor of three music composition books by piper/composer Seamus Coyne. Sarah is a first generation piper, and
she owes her success to both of her parents and instructors who provided her with encouragement, generosity, enthusiasm, and never-ending patience. She wants to give her parents special thanks for encouraging her to follow her (unexpected
and unusual) passion for bagpipes!
