
Piper Pete Purvis hails from Merrickville, Ontario, Canada
and currently resides in Chicago. He’s played the pipes
for twenty years and has played with Rob Roy, Braemar,
Toronto Police, Ottawa Police, and the City of Chicago.
Pete has competed successfully throughout Ontario,
Canada in solo contests rising to Grade One. The 78th
Fraser Highlanders of the 1980’s/90’s have been a major
influence on Pete’s playing. In addition to the pipes Pete
plays the Uilleann pipes, bass, and the Irish whistle. Pete
has a degree in accounting from Brock University, and he makes his living as a
professional musician. He is a member of the highly acclaimed Celtic rock band,
Gaelic Storm, and he tours extensively with them. Besides being a professional
musician Pete is a Ninja! Pete was married on May 25, 2013, which means he’ll becelebrating his anniversary every year at the Alma, Michigan Highland Festival –he knows his wife feels this is so lucky for her!
