Jim Enright

Picture
Snare drummer Jim Enright grew up in pipe bands. His
mother was a piper, and his dad was a drummer, and
all of his siblings play. Jim began playing as a child over
thirty years ago. The major influences on Jim’s playing
are: his dad, Jim Enright, Sr., Jim Sim, Alex Duthart, Bert
Barr, Hugh Cameron, Chris and Ryan Barr, J. Reid Maxwell,
and Ian Swinton. Jim’s played with the Shannon Rovers,
Midlothian Scottish, the City of Chicago, and Chicago
Celtic pipe bands. Jim has competed in solo events since 1984, receiving awards
in Grade Four through the Professional level. He has played in the Gold Medal
contest at Winter Storm in Kansas City. He is a drumming judge for the Midwest Pipe
Band Association, and he’s the Registered Instructor for Chicago Celtic, where he
enjoys playing with his sister, Bridget, and brothers, Pat and Dan. Jim played with
Midlothian Scottish when they placed in the prize list in Grade Two at the World Pipe
Band Championships. Jim is an electrician who enjoys golfing, watching T.V., and
procrastinating! He has a wonderful wife, Christy, who has always encouraged his
involvement in pipe bands, and he couldn’t play at this level without her support.
Jim has a unique talent: he can pretty much recite any line from the films “The
Godfather” – Parts One and Two (and even some from Part Three)!
