
Milford, Michigan high school senior, Colin Tait, has
been playing the pipes for eight years. He’s played
in the following bands: Birmingham Celtic Pipes and
Drums, Ann Arbor Pipes and Drums, Detroit Caledonian,
and Windsor Police. The major influences on Colin’s
playing have been: (for band) Bruce Burt, Sr., Bob
Droppleman, and Greg Pearson and (for solos)
Brian Donaldson, Bruce Burt, Sr., Jack Taylor, Lindsay
Todd-Barr, and Andrew Bova. Highlights of Colin’s
band playing have been: 2011 – Grade Four Detroit
Caledonian, US Open Champions and Second place in the North American Pipe
Band Championships in Maxville, Ontario and 2013 – Grade Three Windsor Police,
US Open Champions. Colin was named the 2012 Midwest Pipe Band Association
Grade Two Champion Supreme for piobaireachd, and he achieved a third place
finish in the Invitational Balmoral Classic in the march, strathspey, and reel contest
in 2013. Last year he began competing in Grade One for Light Music and in the
Senior Amateur level for piobaireachd. Colin is involved in theater at his high
school, Milford High. Outside of school he enjoys music and working.
